So, so true... A picture is worth 1000 words. Allison LaSalle Photography turned ONE today, and it got me thinking about how exactly this all started out. In college, I was a journalism major, and I have always loved the art of the written word. I adore cleverly framed writing that perfectly articulates the point the author is trying to convey, and I surely always will, but when I was introduced to photography I fell in love and I fell hard. My heart flutters when I see a gorgeous image with beautiful lighting and a subject that just captures you and instantly conveys a feeling. It's like eye candy.... I could just stare at gorgeous photographs all day, I am not kidding you. While I love the written word, there is just no vocabulary that can truly and completely communicate what a photograph does. You just can't.
An image from my very first session, which is still one of my very favorites... My brother & his wife.
I guess you could say I'm a bit of a historian. I have always been fascinated by my Grandmother's genealogy efforts. How both written words-whether they were hand written letters of my Great-Great-Grandmother's or articles printed in century old newspapers-and the photographs that accompany them live on for generations and provide us a glimpse into the past. So here I am, a photographer, formerly studying to be a writer who finds herself doing something she said she never would, but has decided to give a shot.... BLOGGING.
A portrait of my Great-Grandmother, born in 1910, that sits on my desk today & reminds how important my job is.
I will be sharing fun ideas about how to take your own great photographs! Be your own historian for your little ones! Tips for all sorts of things like how to style your family for a shoot, or how to get great expressions from your little ones. As much as I adore being a photographer, I only see your families maybe an hour out of every year.... It's up to you to capture all the special moments the rest of the year, and you can! I'd like to help. Everyone loves to have beautiful family portraits, but sometimes your favorite shots are the ones you capture at home, and you should know how to make them their best!
A few favorites of my babies from the last year.
So tune in to the blog. Follow me on Facebook. And dust off your cameras people! Preferably one that isn't attached to a phone.... But we'll talk about that too. Looking forward to what the next year brings, and starting this new chapter at Allison LaSalle Photography!
